Delanah is so in love with Bailey! Lately she does everything she possibly can to get Bailey's attention; squealing, slamming toys on her high chair, yelling, growling.....and when Bay finally makes eye contact with her, it's belly laugh time!
Friday night I was cleaning her new exersaucer in the living room and brought her in her high chair and lowered it to the lowest level so we were eye to eye. She caught sight of Bay (sitting in the corner of the couch) and man, was she doing everything she could to get Bay's attention! I decided to get some animal crackers (what we are using as "cookies" for Bay) and pressed one into Delanah's hand and put Bay in a sit and told Bay "gentle" and let her take the cookie from Delanah. Man did Delanah love it! She was laughing up a storm! She was getting Bay's undivided attention and Bay was getting cookies...another win/win! I got the video camera and got a lot of it on tape, it was absolutely adorable!
Last night Delanah was in her exersaucer and caught sight of Bay laying on the floor and my goodness, if Delanah could, she would have crawled out of the exersaucer to get to Bay! So we did the cookie thing again and both were quite happy and would have been ecstatic if I let it go on for hours....ummm, I don't think so! At the moment, Delanah is sitting in her car seat alternating between squeals and yelling to get Bay to come to her. Bay visited once to lick her face, but apparently that wasn't enough! Bay, on the other hand, is doing her best to ignore the noise.
I think Bay is finally starting to realize that Delanah is only going to get bigger and that she is here to stay. Gone are the quiet afternoons of sleeping the day away. As soon as Delanah is mobile, it's all over for Bailey! What can I say, Delanah loves her puppy!!! My pediatrician stated at our last visit that it is very common for the babies to utter the dogs name before "mama" and "dada"....this I can see happening in our house...and I love it :)
