Nice sleep last night, happy, smiling baby, happy dog, even a quiet, happy bird..what an awesome way to start a Monday! Bailey was going to get to go play at day care (yes, our dog goes to day care a few times a week) and Delanah and I were heading to the mall for some mall walking. I was doing one last diaper change when Bay started barking. I thought initially he saw his favorite neighbor, but she kept coming into the nursery, whining, then running back down to bark again. I was able to call her up and put her in a sit/stay, but she wasn't happy about it. We get downstairs and there are strange cars in the lot and some dodgy looking people hanging around...then we see someone in a uniform, then a lock smith van, then more people...ummm, yeah, no way I am heading out there with my baby!
After some conversation with g-pa, I called the non-emergency police number, explain what's going on and why I am nervous. We are in such a quiet area that this was completely out of place. I must insert here that the Aurora Police Dept was fabulous! They called me back within 5 min and said that the people were there helping a neighbor move...with no moving van? Hmmm.... Just as I decided we were going to leave my little sweet pea decided it was time to eat again :) I had been keeping in touch with my neighbor, who was off for the day and running errands, we're a tight knit group here. While I was in the car my neighbor called...the reason there were no moving vans is because my neighbor was evicted! How sad and scary!
When I got home I did what I could, offering her water and her dog a rawhide. I was so proud of our neighbor's...I looked up some storage facilities, and the men nearby helped to load and unload the U-Haul. Regardless of how she ended up in this situation, it's still quite scary. All furniture is gone from the lawn now, and it is dark at that home, and I am one glass lighter...I hope she can get back on her feet soon.
