Avocado, sand and a ticket

No, no, not together, but those were firsts today! We went to the beach this afternoon, parking in a metered space, and decided to get some lunch first (we went with another wife attending the conference). So off we go. I got a salad with fresh avocado slices on it and mushed a little bit between my fingers, a mommy puree if you will, and let her try some. She was quite tentative at first, with her "I don't know what this is but I really want to try it" posture and facial expression, and the second time I offered it to her she was very ready to have it :)
Lunch over we decide to head to the beach, quarters in hand. Wait, back up a minute...the waitress took forever to pick up our check, then charged it wrong and had to do it again, so it took us a few more minutes to leave than it should have. So we walk the 2 minutes back to the car and there waiting for me was a ticket on the wind shield! My first ever ticket! The kicker is...we missed the meter maid by less than 5 minutes! OYE!!!! Well, chalk it up to my souvenir from this trip :)
On to the beach! By this time Delanah was getting cranky so we had our first diaper change on a blanket on the ground, then her first feel of sand!!! I was SO excited for this moment! And she cried and wanted nothing to do with it! So out comes the nursing cover (which she is starting to recognize) and there, on this beautiful beach with a wonderful breeze, I fed my daughter and she fell asleep :) Leeanne and I sat there chatting and scenery watching while Delanah slept and then made sure we made it back to the car before the meter ran out again :) I felt a little bad for getting such a kick out of the fact that the car in front of me had a ticket on their windshield now, but I was just so happy to not be the only one!
So a day full of firsts...and I think the avocado was the only one with a happy outcome!

Addendum....we put Delanah into the crib very chatty and she just fell asleep on her own!!!!! Another first - not at home, lots of noise and she put herself to sleep! Yay kiddo!!!!
