15 pounds...

As of Tuesday, April 21, 2009...my little Delanah weighed in at 15 lb 5 oz!!! My little chubba! We were at our breastfeeding class again and she was by far the oldest and biggest baby! As much as I oohed and aahed over the new babies, I wouldn't trade places with them. I love the stage we're in right now! She's talking to me more, exploring my face with her hands, aware of things that are going on around her, plays with her feet, and we're working on sitting! She sleeps between 8 and 10 hours a night...no, I wouldn't trade this stage :) I have a feeling though that I am going to say this about every stage as it comes along, well, maybe until she's a teenager!
This week was full of ups and downs. Wed was rough for us. I was grumpy and Delanah was fussy...all day long! Dave was out of town Tuesday night and I didn't sleep well that night so I think that had a lot to do with it. He came home, we all took a nice, deep breath and all was well :) Thursday was great! Delanah and I ran some long overdue errands and then traveled out to see Dave at work. It was "bring your kid to work day" at his company, so it was fitting we went :) Delanah was such a charmer! Coos, smiles, trying to eat people's hands. There was one incident where she tried to reach into a female coworkers shirt, but thankfully she has a little one at home as well and was not offended by the reach! Delanah was amazing! What a great kid!
Friday Delanah and I met a new mom friend and her son at the zoo. It was a rough start, we were both late and then Angela couldn't find parking, but an hour after we were supposed to meet we finally did! It was wonderful to meet a mom the same age and our kids are about 2 weeks apart. We spent a lot of time sitting on a bench, taking turns feeding our kids, and chatting. It was lovely! I hope we are able to get together more often. She is a SAHM as well, so there's a good chance we can get together easier :) There was a weather system change coming in that night (which is why I think the zoo was so insane, people were trying to get out to enjoy the warm weather while it lasted!) and I had a brutal headache. We took a family walk around the park which was just so nice! Dave and I were able to share our day with each other and we were getting exercise to boot!
Today was jam packed! I met Kim for a chat at 11am, left for bbq to meet other moms a little after 1pm, left there about 4:30, stopped by home for a quick clothing change and then off to another bbq! Mind you, I don't think it got above 50 degrees today! So cold! The first bbq was fun...all babies, inside, played on the floor together, all ate around the same time and then napped :) Delanah slept the longest, woke and threw a tizzy, so we left :) I hope to get together with some of the moms again soon! The 2nd bbq was for ANZAC Day (Australian holiday) and was thrown by some Aussies. Delanah was a hit and was just so happy there! It was really chilly, and we assumed it would be inside as the 1st bbq was...nope! I felt like such a bad mom, showing up without a hat and jacket for my baby! Heck, I didn't have a jacket for myself! Delanah and I hung out in the kitchen and had many visitors. We left fairly quickly and headed home to start the bedtime process.
I am exhausted and it's only Saturday night!

  1. Sounds like a lot of fun. 15 lbs already - I bet she's a cutie. You'll have to post pics on Facebook!
