Mondays suck

So yesterday started out just terrible! Delanah wouldn't go to sleep, my fault for sending out emails bragging about how easily she was going down at night, Sunday night and as Dave was a bit under the weather with a cold, I sent him to bed on time. Delanah and I didn't get to sleep until about 1:00, 1:30. Oye! So up I was at 6am to nurse her, and then I let myself sleep until 7:30 and then was rushing to get ready, I had an appointment for my wrist at 9:45...a long awaited appointment. I expected her to wake around 8, but she didn't wake until 8:30 for me to dress and feed her and get things ready. All was working out well until I realized we had 6 inches of snow on the car! Heavy wet stuff too, so a bit harder to brush off. I got as much as I could in the time allowed, and unfortunately, my height did not allow me to get most of the roof cleared.
At the first stoplight the snow from the roof slid onto the windshield. Stupid me, although I knew how heavy the snow was, I tried to use the windshield wipers to move it...nothing happened. So out I get (there were no other cars around) and try to wipe some of it off, I try the wipers again...no go. So it's now snowing pretty heavily, I can't really see, and I have no wipers. I drove about a block to a little shopping center and clear the wipers, try again...the right one isn't moving at all and the left one moves up an inch and down an inch about every 60 seconds...crap! I have waited over 5 months to get in to have my wrist seen and now I am stuck! I called Dave, crying as I am in full meltdown mode, and got the number for the clinic to call and cancel my appointment. Now, this clinic has calls go through a call center and they tend not to pick up their phone...10 minutes later I am still on hold! As I was waiting I went out and dug at some of the ice and snow that was stuck in the crevice of the car and manually moved the wipers up and down. I got back in the car and tried the wipers again and suddenly they worked!
I made it to the clinic 10min late for my appointment time and let them know I was late and wanted to reschedule. The receptionist, bless her heart, said that I could stay and be seen!!!! And what was my darling daughter doing this whole time? Being a little angel. She was even asleep by the time we got to the clinic, which was less than 5 min from the shopping center we had stopped in.
I was seen, diagnosed by a doctor I didn't really like, was sent to OT to get a splint made and returned in the afternoon to get my "custom splint". Woo-hoo! So after almost 6 months of right hand issues I have a splint to wear at night, and if I am not doing anything during the day, and orders to pretty much not do the majority of things I have been doing :) It was an exhausting Monday and I am so glad that it is behind me now!
Tuesday was much better! I was able to get some decent sleep last night and although she was still a bit of a cling-on today, I was able to get all the ironing done! Yay! I did laundry, washed some of her toys, put the small clothes away, straightened up her room, reorganized her closet, vacuumed downstairs and yet I still feel like I haven't done a thing!

  1. Oh man what a day. I'm glad you were able to see the dr still. I friend of mine, that lives in a city close to you, posted on her blog that she and mother nature were no longer on speaking terms;) She is so tired of snow!
