Gas...

My poor little girl! Last night was a very bad night, and one without a whole lot of sleep in this household. We tried to start putting Delanah down at 10pm...by 12:40am I was in the grocery store (if you go at that time you are the only customer there!) getting much needed food for the week. I needed a break! The poor thing would fall asleep in our arms but wake crying as soon as we put her down. I was home by 1:10am and sent Dave to bed. Delanah and I watched some TV and finally climbed into my bed a little after 2am. I am not wanting to return to co-sleeping, but I needed some sleep! She slept for 2 hours and then I fed her in her nursery, dozed a little in the glider and put her in her crib. I came back to our room and told Dave that I was done, I needed some sleep and I was only going back in there if she was really crying, not just fussing...apparently by this time it was 5am!
My darling, exhausted little girl slept until 9:30am letting me get a little rest! She was just so gassy and uncomfortable last night. We gave her gripe water, and that helped a bit, but she just needed time to get all the bubbles out. She was great today! She was content to let me doze a little and even took a 2 hour nap in the late afternoon...strapped to me in her Moby of course :) Tonight she was fighting going down again :( I took a much needed break and ran errands..diapers, fresh veggies for tomorrows dinner, just getting out to be around other adults...:) Dave gave her a bath and apparently put her to sleep explaining the ins and outs of Cricket :p She was crying for some time, and I left them alone for about 45min then went up and offered some relief. Dave wanted to try still and as we were talking I was stroking her forehead...eyelids getting droopy...Dave took over and I went back downstairs. Soon he was down as well...the forehead strokes work! He continued to do them after he put her down in her crib and apparently she was asleep very quickly! Thank you Grandpa Suarez!!! Very soon after Delanah was born Dad shared with me that when I was a baby he used to stroke my nose and it would calm me down...we adapted that idea to fit Delanah and wah-lah! A sleeping baby!!!!
Now if only Dave and I could put ourselves to bed as quickly.....

  1. I love the Moby- sometimes that's the only way Amy takes a nap. What a night!
