Tonight we had a double and a half date :) We met another couple for dinner and we had Delanah with us...she's the half :) And she was SO good! This afternoon I took Delanah on a shopping trip and she fell asleep in the first store. In order to ensure she wasn't overtired at dinner I took a nice long drive :) I stopped at another one of my favorite stores and she woke up so we left. On the drive home she fell asleep again and stayed asleep for quite some time once we got home. I had to wake her up about an hour before our reservations to make sure she was dressed and fed before we left. She was coo-ed over by one of the hostesses when we got there and was just a happy camper! We had one fuss because of a wet diaper and she got hungry after about an hour and fell asleep nursing and stayed that way until the bill came. I got up to bounce her and keep her amused and a gentleman approached and was talking to Delanah and playing with her feet trying to get her to smile (she was having none of that and said "we have been watching her" and commented on how good she had been...awwwww...we're "that family" now. The one who is watched and smiled at because the baby is cute and quiet! It made me smile :)
Now the dinner...YUMMY!!!! It was a sushi restaurant..part of 5280 week. For one week every year there are restaurants all over Denver that participate in this week. You have a 3 or 4 course meal (dependent on the restaurant) for 2 people for $52.80. Now, with many of these restaurants, $52.80 would normally get you one appetizer and one main course, so this was quite the treat! Dave and I shared spicy tuna nachos, much fancier than it sounds, it was Ahi tuna, and yes, it was very spicy! I had seared Ahi tuna with mashed potatoes and a spinach/mushroom (incredibly delightful) side. Yummy!!! For dessert Dave and I shared a banana bread toffee dessert...what cracked me up about it was that it said it was served with fresh fruit and when it arrived, it had half of a strawberry on it! I was expecting a little more fruit :) As 5280 week (also the altitude of Denver) is so popular they have extended it for a few restaurants until next Thursday! I think I am going to try to get Dave and I in to another restaurant...the deals are just too good!
I was also amused tonight as we were leaving. I was excited to get home, hop into my comfy cozy clothes and cuddle my daughter and get her to bed. Other people were just starting their evening and out and about in their finery. All I could really think was, man, I'm glad I don't have to wear high heels and "trolling" clothes!!!!
I love my life! Granted, there are times when I wish Delanah was more of a shopper than she is, or at least showed the tolerance for my browsing that her dad does, but I wouldn't trade in what I have for anything. I have the most wonderful and loving husband, a beautiful, loving and absolutely wonderful daughter, a great dog, a somewhat annoyingly loud but loving bird, a home I love and friends and family I love and who love me. It's a wonderful place to be and I need to take more time out to reflect and remind myself of that. The good Lord has blessed my life.
