After a rushed morning and getting to church early (shocking!) we spent a lazy afternoon. I just didn't feel like cleaning today! About 4:30pm I realized that we didn't have enough diapers to make it through the night (they were closed when I went to get gDiapers last night) so I quickly threw on some respectable clothes and was on my way! I even managed to slide into the car wash about a minute before they closed and got the car a much needed wash :) Then it was off to Michaels and a quick stop for some fruit and brekkie at the grocery store and home! Then panic hit and I started cleaning again...sigh!
Brendan and Jess had a long delay in San Fran and weren't due in now until 10:30pm. Dave left a little after 9:30 and my evening truly began.....Delanah just did not want to go to sleep! I tried burping, cuddles...I was just too tired myself to walk all night, which seems to be what she wanted. So into the crib she went when she was calm...when she realized that I wasn't going to pick her up right away...the tantrum began!!!!! I left her in there no longer than 5 min, and she would fuss for a minute, then distract herself looking at her mobile and quiet down, realize that she was supposed to be throwing a tantrum and start up again. I went in to again and she ate one more time and then a diaper change and back into the crib. It's the same routine we do numerous times during the day and she is usually very happy to hang out in her crib...how does she know it's bed time? As soon as I put her in her crib it was fussing again.
This time I decided to wash my face, taking my time, a luxury I rarely have, and thought I heard a thump. I turned off the water and listened, nothing...so the water went on again and I thought I heard more thumps...too much noise for Delanah or Bailey to make. I had partially closed the bathroom door when washing and opened to check on things and Dave was standing there...I think my heart actually stopped. I wasn't expecting him home for another 45 min!!! After my heart began a normal rhythm again we went into the nursery together. I had some cuddles with Delanah and then Dave took her for some cuddles. I was putting on lotion and retelling my evening to Dave and as I was telling my woes of the tantrums, that little stinker was watching me and laughed! I stopped, then started again and she laughed again!!! Dave and I were laughing too hard for me to finish telling my story. What a stinker!!! She has her timing down for sure!
Although Dave and I were tired all day, we can't seem to sleep now, which is good considering sleep seems to be the furthest thing from Delanah's plans at the moment. We think we might be getting together with Brendan and Jess tomorrow around lunch time, but with the rate we're going at the moment we may just be getting to sleep around then!
